Learn to Deal with Triumph and Disaster from McIlroy

Learn to Deal with Triumph and Disaster from McIlroy

For most golf fans, it was exciting time to watch the 2011 US Open, almost as extraordinary as Rory McIlroy’s golfing achievement this week is the response to him. When have you ever seen a sporting event in which everybody is rooting for the same competitor?

Why so many people like Rory McIlroy? In my opinion, most people may like the ways of McIlroy to deal with disaster. In this article, you could learn to deal with triumph and disaster from McIlroy. If you are looking to buy good golf clubs, I would like to recommend the good TaylorMade golf - TaylorMade R7 CGB Max Fairway Wood to you!

When Rory McIlroy was asked after his record breaking win at the US Open whether as a small boy growing up in Northern Ireland he could have dreamt that this could happen to him he thought for a moment and then replied that yes actually he had dreamt of it happening.

Growing up watching Tiger Woods do extraordinary things at a young age meant that he could have these sorts of dreams. That’s not to say he expected to do it at such an early age but he did dream that one day he would hold a major trophy. Those dreams had taken a severe dent at the Masters two months earlier and some questioned his ability to overcome that disappointment.

McIlroy had been identified as a prodigious talent from an early age learning golf under his father’s guidance on the courses of Northern Ireland. So when he went into the final round of the Masters with a four shot lead it seemed certain that his destiny would be fulfilled. He started that round a little shakily but managed to get to the halfway point with a one shot lead.

A lesser person would have been destroyed by these events but what did McIlroy do? He fronted up to the press and answered them honestly and sincerely, he flew half way around the world to honour a commitment he had to play in a tournament in Malaysia and he didn’t just play but he nearly won the tournament! Then he went back to Northern Ireland to his home and worked out how to ensure that what happened at the Masters didn’t happen again.

There are those that will say that the true test will come for McIlroy when he’s not protecting an eight shot lead but a one shot lead. The comparisons with Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus are inevitable but let’s hope that Rory is left to go about his career in his own way and is not burdened with the pressure of chasing records that seem to have driven but eventually crushed Tiger Woods.

If you meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same….you’ll be a man my son! Thanks for reading my article, if you want to know more features of r7 cgb max fairway wood, you may read this taylormade r7 cgb max fairway wood for sale at okgolfsales.blogspot.com.

Will Tiger Woods be at National

Tiger Woods is an American professional golfer whose achievements to date rank him among the most successful golfers of all time. Now, Tiger Woods is not the Number One, what next for him?

In this article, you may find that Tiger Woods will be at National, just not on the links. If you want to know much more information or jokes, you may read this funny article about TaylorMade R11 Driver price.

Woods never made it out there, either. That was the height of Tigermania. Woods hasn’t won a tournament since November 2009. And he’s only played nine holes since injuring his left knee and Achilles’ while nearly winning the Masters in April.

But he still moves the dial. So the good news for local fans is, he’ll once again be at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pa., for the AT&T National, which tees off on Thursday. The problem is that he won’t be playing. He’s making a supporting pre-tourney appearance because the event benefits the Tiger Woods Foundations. He used to be the official host, until AT&T opted not to continue as one of his sponsors after his personal issues became public fodder.

He wasn’t a factor a year ago, when he tied for 46th. Yet his presence made all the difference. The galleries were deep. They mostly came for a singular reason: to catch a glimpse of his every step. He’d never played here before. Even if he had, the response would’ve been the same.

Woods, by the way, is 17th. Not all of them are household commodities. It would probably have helped if a Bubba Watson or Dustin Johnson or Jason Day had signed up. Getting Phil Mickelson was asking too much.

So, there’s plenty of storylines. It’s just that (ital) the (ital) storyline is missing. That’s nobody’s fault. And there’s nothing anyone can do except try to appreciate the guys who are here.

Philly doesn’t usually warm up to anything it views as a less-than-big-time product. Yet that’s what many regular PGA Tour events are. Star quality can’t always equate to Tiger or Phil or Rory. The U.S. Open will be back at Merion in 2013, for the first time in 32 years. After that, who knows? If that major goes well, there’s every chance it could return. Yet that likely wouldn’t happen until the late 2020s. Aronimink wants to host a major itself. But the earliest that could probably take place is another decade from now.

So embrace the AT&T for everything it is, instead of the elements that are missing. You never can tell when we’ll have that next photo op to call our very own.

Congratulations! Rory McIlroy! Rory McIlroy is a professional golfer who won the 2011 US Open, the Rory McIlroy rose to world No 3 on Monday. It is good news for any McIlroy’s fans, isn’t it?

The youngest US Open winner for 83 years is experiencing his first immersion in the world of celebrity, slam dunked you might say.

His eyes appeared to be spinning behind his thick-rimmed, black glasses on Monday and his hair was a law unto itself. The day passed in a series of stage-managed engagements with his clothing supplier Oakley in central London.

McIlroy said all the right things, indulged the Oakley marketing men with jolly anecdotes about the efficacy of their engineered fabrics and how important it was not to be constrained by his clothes. McIlroy could get the ball in the hole wearing a bin bag, but we knew what he meant.

“I can’t believe how busy I have been [since Congressional] but really need to get my head down now and get ready for the Open. I did a photo shoot last Thursday, hit a few then, and hit a few balls at Wentworth on Monday. I’ve cleared Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for practice. Going to practice more than play though I might get a game in somewhere.”

McIlroy played the golf of his career at Congressional, holding his game together across the four days to pile up a string of record numbers. He says he is not concerned about the time consumed by off-field adventures.

“I’m off to St George’s Thursday and Friday of the Scottish Open week. I then go back the following Tuesday for my press conference. I won’t play at all on that Tuesday; probably do 18 on the Wednesday.” You are the boss, now, Rory.

Rory McIlroy Won’t Go Easy on Tiger Woods

Rory McIlroy Won’t Go Easy on Tiger Woods

After the 2011 US Open, more and more people think that Rory McIlroy would be the next Tiger Woods, who is better golfer between Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods?

Nowadays, McIlroy plans Major raid while Woods recuperates, he said: I won’t go easy on Tiger! In this article, you may find golf news about Rory McIlroy. If you are looking to buy good golf clubs, you may try this G15 Driver who is hottest golf clubs in the golf market.

Rory McIlroy is determined to make the most of Tiger Woods being down and, for the time being at least, out as well. Tiger Woods has not won a title since November 2008 and has been out of action since mid-May because of knee and achilles injuries. He has yet to decide whether he is fit enough for The Open on July 14-17.

In contrast, McIlroy has spent the last week enjoying his US Open victory before visiting Wimbledon tomorrow and then starting practice for The Open. ‘It’s a good time for me to win things when he’s not playing his best,’ said 22-year-old McIlroy. He added: ‘The first thing for Tiger is to get healthy and see what happens from there.

The youngster is now part of an unprecedented 1-2-3 for UK golfers at the top of the world rankings with Luke Donald and Lee Westwood.

‘We saw Lee get to number one in the world and Luke has been very consistent for the last two years,’ he said. ‘We’re working hard to beat one another and strive to be better than everyone else.’

McIlroy added that he has not had time yet to reflect on the performance of his young life. ‘If I joined I’d feel like I was giving part of that up. I’m not prepared to move away from home yet and base myself in the US full-time.’

He also has plans to watch David Haye’s world title fight at the weekend and will be making an early trip to Sandwich rather than wait until Open week.

Will Waterloo Host the LPGA

All of us may know Waterloo is a famous city! Do you know the LPGA would be hosted in Waterloo Region?
Waterloo Region has hosted many major sporting events, but the chance to be the host community for a Ladies Professional Golf Association tournament is an unparalleled opportunity from every perspective. In this article, you may find the newest golf news about Waterloo Region with LPGA. If you want to know much more golf clubs review or golf news, you may read this funny article about Callaway X22 Irons price
The stars of the LPGA will tee it up at the Grey Silo Golf Course in 2012. This opportunity arose because Waterloo-based Manulife Financial decided to sponsor the tournament, which will be held at the Grey Silo Golf Course at RIM Park in Waterloo next June.
From an athletic perspective, the tournament should be wonderful. The top women golfers compete only 24 times a year, so to have a tournament in the region is a rare blessing. Moreover, until now Canada has hosted only one annual LPGA competition. Waterloo’s event will give this country two.
The purse for the men’s tournaments may be higher, but the actual golf played at the women’s events is something the average golfer — male or female — might relate to more easily. As Canadian golfer Alena Sharp said: “Amateurs can relate to us more because we can’t hit the ball 320 yards.”
The tournament will also give both the City of Waterloo and Waterloo Region a significant economic boost. It could attract 60,000 spectators. A report by Toronto-based Sports Properties International and Alabama-based Bruno Event Team concluded that the tournament could put $20 million a year in the region’s economy.
The tournament will also be a community event. It will undoubtedly become the topic of discussion in homes, offices and coffee shops. Furthermore, the tournament’s professional staff will require the help of 1,500 volunteers, most of whom will probably come from the region. These people will have an experience they won’t quickly forget.
Waterloo Region is an ideal location for volunteers. The tournament’s high profile in a medium-size community will ensure that volunteers will come forward next year.
This tournament is not only a one-time event. Manulife will sponsor the tournament for three years and it has an option for the following two years. The odds are that Manulife will want to exercise its option.
The biggest regret golf enthusiasts might have is that they will have to wait a year. They probably wish the tournament was going to be held here this summer.
Thanks for reading my article, we recommend Callaway golf - Callaway X22 Irons (also known as the X22 Irons for sale) to you.

Commentary about Nick Watney’s Victory

Nick Watney is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour, and Watney got his 2nd victory of 2011 at the AT&T National by beating K.J. Choi by 2 strokes. Watney Wins by Two, what Now for Professional Golf in Philadelphia?
In this article, you may find the latest commentary about Nick Watney’s victory. If you want to know much more golf clubs reviews or golf news, you may read this funny article about TaylorMade R11 Driver for sale.
Newtown Square, Pa. • Never mind that Nick Watney was the highest-ranked player at the AT&T National, or that he won a World Golf Championship in March. Stepping to the first tee Sunday in a tie for the lead at the AT&T National, he had reason to feel overlooked.
After Watney’s name was announced, one fan called out, “Go, Rickie!” Several other fans in the large gallery wore bright orange shirts and flat-brimmed caps to show their support for Rickie Fowler, a 22-year-old who was tied for the lead and going after that first PGA Tour win.
“He’s obviously a very popular player. I think his time is definitely coming,” Watney said. “I would say there were probably a few more Fowler fans out there. But it is what it is. Sometimes you play away games or whatever.”
Watney doesn’t have the panache of Fowler, but his game is starting to get plenty of attention. Playing the weekend at Aronimink in a staggering 12 under, and going the final 27 holes without a bogey, Watney closed with a 4-under 66 for a two-shot victory over K.J. Choi (67) to win for the second time this year and move to No. 10 in the world.
Watney also put himself atop the FedEx Cup standings and the PGA Tour money list for the first time. “It’s a very addictive feeling to be out there and under the gun,” said Watney, who had rounds of 62-66 on the weekend. “To be able to hit good shots and putts is why I play, really.”
Watney finished on 13-under 267, tying the tournament record by Tiger Woods in 2009 when it was played at Congressional. The tournament is scheduled to return to Congressional next year.
Fowler fell out of the hunt early with a double bogey on the second hole when he hit three straight shots without losing his turn. He finished with a 74 to tie for 13th.

Rory McIlroy Drops to Fourth

Rory McIlroy Drops to Fourth

On 19 June 2011, Rory McIlroy won the U.S. Open, his first major. Then, Rory McIlroy was up to the No.3 in rankings. Now, Rory McIlroy drops to fourth. It is not good news, isn’t it?
In this article, I would like to tell you the news about Rory McIlroy. If you want to know much more golf clubs reviews or golf news, you may read this funny article about about TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 Fairway Wood Review in my blog..
While Rory McIlroy was taking in the sights at Wimbledon on a couple of occasions last week, Martin Kaymer was competing in France and today the German overtook the US Open champion in the latest world rankings.
Kaymer finished fourth at Le Golf National which was good enough for the US PGA champion to move up to third in the standings with McIlroy dropping one place to fourth.
The Holywood star had a busy week off the course and was twice invited to the Royal Box at SW19, including for yesterday’s men’s final where his friend Rafa Nadal lost to Novak Djokovic. McIlroy also made the trip to Hamburg for David Haye’s heavyweight title fight last Saturday night.
The 22-year-old is still the highest ranked Irish player with Graeme McDowell next, though he has slid down to ninth ahead of this week’s Scottish Open at Castle Stuart, the tournament’s new links venue in Inverness. The event was previously held at Loch Lomond.
Although McIlroy is not competing at Castle Stuart, his attentions are firmly back on golf ahead of the British Open. He intends to play at Sandwich this week and is set to get more links practice at Royal County Down.
For some time now the rankings haven’t made great reading for Pádraig Harrington, and this week is no better as the triple major winner finds himself 57th before teeing it up in Scotland.
Yesterday’s French Open winner, Thomas Levet made a massive leap from 252nd up to 137th. The English pair of Luke Donald and Lee Westwood still lead the way in first and second respectively as the game’s leading players fine-tune preparations for the third major of the season, which gets under way after this week’s Scottish Open.

Tiger will not Challenge McIlroy

All of us may know Rory McIlroy won the 2011 US Open, then golf has a new superstar now in Rory McIlroy, but how much more exciting next week’s Open Championship would have been with Tiger Woods there to challenge him.
Do you what to watch Tiger Woods Vs Rory McIlroy? It is not going to happen now. Tiger Woods will not play in British Open. In this article, I would like to talk something about Tiger Woods with the British Open. If you want to get golf clubs reviews, you may read this article about Callaway X24 HOT Irons for sale in my blog.
The former world number one, down to 17th in the rankings and about to fall even further, has decided not to take the gamble he did at Sawgrass in May.
Injured at Augusta, he chose to try out his knee and Achilles in the Players Championship on May 12, but limped to the turn in 42 shots – only one off the worst nine-hole score of his career – and withdrew.
That is the last seen of him on a golf course. Indeed he revealed last week that he had not swung a club since, so his withdrawal yesterday came as no surprise.
Eight years ago at Royal St George’s he lost a ball with his opening drive and started with a triple-bogey seven. Open fans are not going to have the chance to see if he can improve on that.
It ought to be remembered that he came back from that to finish joint fourth, just two shots behind shock winner Ben Curtis.
He was the biggest thing in golf back then – by some distance – and he remains the biggest name. Not just for golfing reasons, of course, after all the stories about his serial infidelity that emerged following a bizarre car crash outside his home in the early hours in November 2009.
But the sport no longer needs him as much as it did. McIlroy is the new kid on the block – and what a kid judging by the way he came back from his 80 at the Masters with a performance at Congressional that reminded so many people of Woods at his most dominant.
Hopefully there will be duels to come between the young Northern Irishman and the 35-year-old American.
There is still hope that Woods can not only become fit again, but become a force again – maybe never to the extent he was, but possibly to challenge Jack Nicklaus’ 18-major record.

A Review of Good TaylorMade Fairway Woods

For most golfers, it is important to own good golf clubs; and any golfer may know that the drivers and woods are probably the most important clubs in the bag and everybody loves them. Do you know why?
When you play golf game, mainly used for longer shots, drivers are usually the first club out of the bag on the tee. Some advanced golfers, however, may decide to use a driver off the fairway is they need a little extra distance. A fairway or metal wood is also used off the tee if you need a more accurate shot or you don’t need as much distance as you would get with a driver. The golf fairway wood is also important for any golfer.
Fairway woods are usually considered the most reliable golf club and seem to be a favorite because they tend to make you look better than you really are. This is a club that is evolving slowly but should definitely have a place in your bag. A fairway wood usually improves a golfer’s accuracy and allows him to loft the ball higher. In this article, I would recommend the good TaylorMade golf - TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood to you.
Released by TaylorMade, the R9 Fairway Wood is the first fairway wood to feature Flight Control Technology (FCT) that allows you to change the face angle, loft and lie of the club in eight different changes. A total of 36 yards potential trajectory change allowing you to select your preferred ball flight and shot shape whether it’s a high draw or a low fade and even straight give you total control over your game.
A new classic clubhead shape combines super-high MOI (moment of inertia) and easy-launching CG (center of gravity) position while Fujikura Motore 70-gram shaft with High Inertia Tip (H.I.T.) Technology promotes faster ball speed. Arguably the best fairway wood on the market today, Taylormade has a winner here with this one.
Once you have a general understanding of when and why you need to use a certain type of club, there are still many decisions to make before actually making a purchase!

Latest Golf News about Kris Blanks

Latest Golf News about Kris Blanks

Kris Blanks is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour and previously played on the Nationwide Tour. He played on the PGA Tour since 2009. His best finish was second place at the 2010 Puerto Rico Open.
In this article, you may find the latest golf news about Kris Blanks. If you want to read hot golf clubs review, you may read this article aboutyou may read this article about Ping G15 Hybrid for sale in my blog. At first, let’s read this article carefully!
American Kris Blanks birdied his final five holes to fire an eight-under par 63 and seize a one-stroke lead after Thursday’s opening round of the $4.5 million US PGA John Deere Classic.
Blanks, whose best PGA showing was a share of second at last year’s Puerto Rico Open, seized a one-stroke edge over countrymen Davis Love and Steve Marino and Canada’s Matt McQuillan with US players Mark Wilson and Kyle Stanley on 65. Blanks, who began on the back nine, opened with a birdie only to bogey the 11th. He answered with three birdies in a row starting at the 12th, then began his back nine with a birdie at the first.
After a bogey at the par-4 fourth, Blanks responded with birdies on his final five holes to seize the lead, including a 25-foot birdie putt at the par-4 fifth and an 11-footer at the ninth to take the lead alone.
“It was good to finally see some putts fall,” Blanks said. “I’ve been struggling with (putting) all year, so that was definitely a positive. It’s just fun to make some putts. I thought my speed was real good all day.”
US veteran Steve Stricker, trying to win the John Deere for the third year in a row, was in a group of 12 players on 66 that included Australian Cameron Percy and Zimbabwe’s Brendon de Jonge.
McQuillan, a rookie who has missed 10 cuts in a row, won his way onto this season’s US PGA Tour in last year’s qualifying tournament after giving up his career in 2005 for two years of bartending.
“After about a year working, I realized golf wasn’t too bad,” McQuillan said. “It’s very difficult and to stay positive and patient has been the key for me,” McQuillan said. “I’m out here playing with the best players in the world.
“So it’s very tough to stay positive and patient. But I just figure I’m out here, I qualified to get out here, so I’m trying to have fun and make some birdies.”
After opening with an eagle sandwiched between bogeys, McQuillan made seven birdies to finish the day, three of them in a row starting at the par-3 12th.
“I figured I got my great stuff and bad stuff out early and then just tried to make some good swings,” he said.

The World of Golf Is Green

The World of Golf Is Green

Today, golf is a great sport enjoyed by millions of people around the world. So, this is a crazy golf world, and the world of golf is green!
Do you know what is meaning? Read this article carefully, you may find the answer. If you are looking to purchase good golf clubs, I would like to recommend the Mizuno golf - mizuno MX 700 driver for sale to you!
THE world of golf is green … with envy! How does a tiny island like Ireland produce three golfers capable of winning five of the last 16 Majors? And the ‘New Tiger’ to boot! In the absence of the injured Tiger Woods, US Open history-maker Rory McIlroy is the bookies’ favourite for next week’s British Open in Sandwich.
For 60 years, Fred Daly’s win at the 1947 British Open was Ireland’s solitary success on the Major championship stage — then, incredibly, three champions came in quick succession. “They build us tough in Ireland,” quips 2010 US Open winner Graeme McDowell. “It’s our golf courses and the coaching programmes put in place by the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI). It’s whatever way they build us in Ireland.”
Holywood star McIlroy surmises: “I think it starts with the people. Golf is very accessible in Ireland and, obviously, there are a lot of great golf courses.
“The GUI helped me growing up and throughout my amateur career. They enabled me to play in different places around the world, learn about different conditions and different cultures, which really prepared me for coming out on Tour.”
Yet there’s more to it than that. For a start, McIlroy, who may like the MX 700 driver, was born with a rare talent, which was nurtured lovingly by his parents, Gerry and Rosie, and then honed by his swing coach since childhood, PGA professional Michael Bannon.
The path McIlroy (22) took to Major glory is shorter and infinitely more dramatic than those followed by older compatriots Harrington and McDowell.
McIlroy’s mature acceptance of his implosion at Augusta as a learning experience and his ability to sift reams of advice in its wake and produce a winning formula at Congressional was utterly astonishing.
While the environment fostered by the GUI and golf clubs without question played its part in their stunning development, the success enjoyed by McIlroy, Harrington and McDowell is founded principally on their own intelligence.
There’s no doubt that the most important fairway in golf remains the six inches between each player’s ears.

What will McIlroy’s Life be Now

Any golf fan would know Rory McIlroy won the 2011 US Open, do you want to know what McIlroy’s Life will be now?
This is what Rory McIlroy’s life will be now! Sometimes life just likes the look of you. Rory McIlroy isn’t normally given to the snarky aside but it was impossible not to smile at his Twitter message to Ian Poulter on Saturday as the Scottish Open began to look more like a Bannockburn re-enactment than a golf tournament.
Reading my article carefully, you may find the answer! In this article, I would like to tell you the latest news about Luke Donald. If you want to read golf clubs reviews, you may read this article about TaylorMade R11 Driver for sale in my blog.
“Looks like the boys in Scotland are getting a great prep for next week,” Rory McIlroy wrote to Poulter, another who skipped the mess in Inverness and has had to fend off the odd poison-tipped arrow himself as a result. “4.40 wake-up calls and a soft golf course.”
This is what McIlroy’s life will be now. Every move and non-move analysed, picked apart and pronounced upon. Few sports find ways to knot their own knickers like golf does, as evidenced by the hilariously high dudgeon of Colin Montgomerie last week when asked about the broken shin Thomas Levet earned himself after jumping into a greenside lake upon winning the French Open.
“It’s the silliest thing that players have done over the years,” grouched Monty, “and let’s hope that’s the last time that ever happens. It is not the way to celebrate a golf tournament win. We are lucky it’s only a leg injury.”
McIlroy’s fame will never approach Woodsian levels purely because he isn’t American. But as we’re already seeing, he’ll have to fight his own machine in his own way. He’ll be forced to explain everything for everybody, from his schedule choices to his nationality to his love life. If his sweetness is stolen somewhere along the way, golf will be the poorer for it. But it’ll be the price of doing business.
Everything we’ve seen from McIlroy so far suggests a boy with enough cop-on to hold tight to that good nature. But if it ebbs away over the years, there’s a decent chance it will say more about his sport than it will about him.

Rory McIlroy Vs Lee Westwood

Following the decline, if not fall, of Tiger Woods, Chandler is arguably the most influential individual in golf today, reshaping the game’s frontiers in the age of Rory McIlroy. Chandler has been 22 years in the empire-building business, long enough to recognize a game breaker when he sees one.
Now, the Britain Open is coming! Rory McIlroy may be the star but Andrew Chandler tips Lee Westwood for glory. Who will win the Open? In this article, I would tell you the latest golf news about Rory McIlroy Vs Lee Westwood. If you want to read the golf clubs reviews, you may read this funny article about TaylorMade R9 Driver for sale in my blog.
“One of the things we are good at is managing people’s expectations. For all the will in the world, Louis Oosthuizen knows an Open Championship win for him is not as big as a US Open win for Rory McIlroy,” Chandler said.
“Looking after Rory is a massive responsibility. It has been that from the start. You are trying to steer a straight course and avoid too many errors while ensuring that all our players reach their potential at golf. We don’t market the hell out of them trying to get every single dime. It is all about scheduling for the benefit of their careers.
“That said, Rory has a lot coming at him at the moment. You try to go through them and find the deals that suit him best and are the kindest for him.
“Rory loves sport. It’s his only hobby. If we do a deal with a company that involves ambassadorial work for them at a sporting event then that’s much more appealing for him than four tournament days with clients. If I can find sponsors that want to take him to Wimbledon, Man United, Formula One, that’s an easy deal to make.”
Chandler could fill an Open field with the number of talented supernovas that have been put his way on a change-the-world ticket. Few make the first tee in the pro game. McIlroy was another generating a lot of junior noise.
So what was so different about him? “It was obvious at 12 that he was special, different. He was smaller than everybody else, better than every body else, had a little swagger. He just stood out.
While McIlroy, Oosthuizen and Schwartzel have been breaking down major doors, Chandler has looked on with some empathy at the narrow failures of Lee Westwood, the player with whom he is most associated. Call it the sympathy vote if you will, but, whisper it quietly, Chandler is tipping Westwood, not McIlroy, to triumph this week.

Rory McIlroy’ Fame and Pressure

Rory McIlroy’ Fame and Pressure

Rory McIlroy is a professional golfer from Holywood, Northern Ireland. On 19 June 2011, he won the U.S. Open, then, he has been cited as the most exciting young prospect in golf and having the potential to become one of the highest earners in sports in terms of endorsements.
The 2011 professional golf season has been a very difficult one to predict. Tiger Woods had a rough start before being injured, although he had a promising showing at the Masters. It seems likely that he won’t be back before the British Open, meaning he will miss at least two majors this year. A comeback in time for the British Open would be miraculous.
In this article, I would like to talk something about Rory McIlroy’ fame and pressure. If you are looking for good golf clubs, I would like to recommend the good Ping K15 Driver for sale (also known as the K15 Driver) to you!
Pressure is expressed as a grin and an easy manner. With the first major title win, the stress is off, not on: “It means that every time I come into a press conference or do an interview I don’t have to answer that question, whereas a lot of guys still do, you know. So it has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. Now I can talk about winning my second one after having won the first.”
Fame’s centrifugal force has thrown him around for three weeks but it was all part of a plan, he wants us to know. The morning after Congressional he flew to Cape Cod for a sponsor’s gig, then made a VIP airport dash to London for a quiz show before collapsing through his front door to give his smile a much-needed rest.
For a player of his gifts, the shock of the anointment is more easily absorbed than it would be for, say, Ben Curtis, the unknown rookie who raised the Claret Jug here in 2003.
“I didn’t realise how much of a fuss it would create or how much of a buzz,” McIlroy said, but this is not the lament of the lad whose privacy has been stolen, whose youth has been annexed: “I’m the sort of person who likes to have people watching. I like to have a little bit of a buzz in the atmosphere around the group, and I’ll enjoy it. It’s nice to be the centre of attention.
“It’s quite hard to stay anonymous these days,” he admitted. “It’s not a bad thing. If that’s the worst thing I’m complaining about, then I’m doing something right.”
Unless he wins this Open by five strokes the fizz should start to subside. There are, though, several unique factors to keep the bubbles rising, starting with the speed of his recovery from last-day collapse at the Masters to four-day pageant at the US Open: an improbably fast reordering which allowed him to parade sport’s oldest storyline, that of redemption.
“If anything it just gives me more confidence knowing I can do it, when I step on to the first tee of a major, that I’ve done this before. My mentality should be exactly the same. If I can bottle the mentality I had at the US Open going into every tournament I’d be very happy.

Why Rory McIlroy Feels Frenzied

Why Rory McIlroy Feels Frenzied

The wheel turns quickly in the world of sport but it has spun off its axle this week at Royal St George’s where professional golf – the fans, the players, the media “experts” – has rushed to embrace the new US Open champion, Rory McIlroy. Tiger who? Try Tiger Woods.
In this article, I would like to talk something about Tiger Woods with Rory McIlroy. If you want to get golf clubs reviews, you may read this article about Callaway X24 HOT Irons for sale in my blog.
The Northern Irishman will step on to the 1st tee of the 2011 Open Championship at 9.09am on Thursday and, contrary to the expectations of his new legion of fans, some of whom might not be entirely aware of just how hard it is to win a major championship, he will not be wearing a Superman cape. Like the other 155 players in the field he will come only with his caddie, his clubs and his talents.
That was enough to lap the field at Congressional Country club last month but Royal St George’s, a classic – some may say hardcore – links, presents an altogether different challenge, one that may not entirely suit McIlroy’s brand of golf.
McIlroy sees and hears and reads everything, by all accounts, and he is aware of doubts. More crucially for his hopes, he seems aware of his own deficiencies.
“I have prepared really well in the last two weeks working on shots I need out here,” he said. “Physically I feel a lot stronger but mentally I am a lot better than I was last year. It was a good lesson to learn and hopefully I will do better if I come up against that weather again this year.”
The 22-year-old was speaking after one final trip around the Royal St George’s links, this time in the company of his old friend and mentor Darren Clarke, along with the defending champion, Louis Oosthuizen, and the Masters winner, Charl Schwartzel. Afterwards, he showed off his prize – a crisp £20 note, which should accelerate his spiral towards an eight-figure fortune – and laid out his hopes and dreams for the next four days. “It’s my home Open and the one I want to win more than any other. I got my first major a few weeks ago and it would be nice to get my second this week. If not, I’ll just have to wait.”
McIlroy’s appeal lies in his talent, but there is also his personality. Unlike the former world No1, there is none of the pointless obfuscation on these occasions. He says what he thinks and feels. There is enormous credit in that, but there is also the risk of showing weakness. “If not, I’ll just have to wait”? In his prime Woods waited for no one. He wanted it there and then, the hell with what anyone else wanted.
That was the old Tiger Woods. The “new Tiger Woods” (a label the McIlroy camp is anxious to disown, incidentally) is more relaxed about these things, believing that the tournament is won out on the links and not in the pre-match skirmishes. There is great maturity in such thinking but there is perhaps just a smidgen of naivety. At an Open Championship every little thing counts – a bounce here, a bounce there; a word out of place here, a word out of place here.

Clarke and McDowell Lead Northern Irish Charge

Clarke and McDowell Lead Northern Irish Charge
The Northern Irish assault on the Open Championship was expected to come from Rory McIlroy.
Reading the article carefully, you may find the latest golf news about Clarke and McDowell. If you want to know much more golf clubs reviews, you may read this funny article about TaylorMade R11 irons for sale.
While that might yet prove to be the case, he was outshone yesterday by Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke, two of McIlroy’s compatriots and friends.
Both posted opening rounds of 68 at Royal St George’s yesterday to feature in the top ten at the end of the day.
Although he is a major winner, McDowell’s finish caused most surprise since it had initially looked as though he was trying his best to rule himself out of contention on the first day. He opened with a double bogey and incurred two more bogeys later, although five birdies offset the damage.
“I just got off to a horrible start,” the 2010 US Open champions said afterwards. “Three days’ perfect preparation, nice warm-up this morning and then I walk onto the first tee and just put one of the worst swings of the week on it.”
The hole didn’t get any better for him and he ended up taking six strokes. “I walked to the second tee wondering what the hell just happened,” he said. “But I managed to hang in there and made a great putt on the second, which really settled me down. After that it was about hanging tough.”
McDowell hit 12 greens and took 26 putts and managed to repair the damage – and more – with four birdies in his final nine holes. “The old cliche is that you can’t win it today, you can only lose it,” he said. “And I tried to lose it.”
He added: “It’s great to have the three Northern Irish boys in contention with 54 holes to go. The way we were going after the first three or four holes there might have been a few medicinal cold beers needed.”
Clarke was another popular success story yesterday. Like McDowell, he did not get off to the best of starts. In fact, all three Northern Irishmen stumbled at the first hole, with Clarke following McIlroy in making a bogey at ‘The Kitchen’. But Clarke steadied himself and collected three birdies in the back nine.
Playing in the best of the conditions, the 42-year-old Clarke was back to his consistent best. “Most of the time I was in control,” he said later. “It’s a real tough, stern test. You’ve got to stay patient this week, which has not always been one of my strong points. But that’s what the Open and links golf is all about.”
Patience, a characteristic Clarke acknowledges isn’t his forte, was his watchword. His catch-up with renowned sports psychologist Bob Rotella on Wednesday did him good. “He knows me inside out and we’ve known each other a very long time,” said Clarke. “I was lucky.”

Will Darren Clarke Win the British Open

Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke and Lucas Glover of the United States took a one-shot second round lead at the British Open on Friday as a slew of star names were sent packing.
Clarke carded a two-under-par 68 for the second day running to move to four under at the halfway stage, while 2009 US Open champion Glover shot a solid level par 70 for a 36-hole aggregate of 136. In this article, you may find the latest golf news about British Open. If you want to know much more golf clubs reviews or golf news, you may read this funny article about TaylorMade R11 Driver for sale.
Bright sunshine and a light breeze invited low scores on the Royal St George’s layout, yet the benign conditions did not prevent several heavyweights including world No.1 Luke Donald from missing the cut.
Clarke’s round was a roller-coaster with an eagle and five birdies offset by a double-bogey and three bogeys but the 42-year-old Ulsterman was bullish about his prospects heading into the weekend, where poor weather has been forecast.
“There’s an awful long way to go yet, and I believe the forecast for the weekend is very, very poor, which I quite look forward to,” Clarke said.
A win for Clarke would be hugely popular for a player who had three top 10 finishes in the Open in a five-year spell from 1997, including a tie for second place at Troon in 1997 and a tie for third place at Royal Lytham in 2001.
Martin Kaymer is joined by first round leader Thomas Bjorn of Denmark, cigar-chomping Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez and America’s Chad Campbell.
Bjorn, who had lit up the first round with a five-under-par 65, found the going tougher on Friday but did enough to stay in touch with a two-over-par 72.
“It wasn’t the prettiest of days golf-wise, but I’ll take where I stand in the championship right now,” Bjorn said.
Seven players – including US Masters champion Charl Schwartzel – were two shots off the lead at two under while five players, including world No.6 Phil Mickelson, were grouped at one under.
Tournament favourite Rory McIlroy meanwhile remains in contention, bunched with 12 players in the clubhouse at level par, four off the lead.
The 22-year-old US Open champion, who had started the day one over, posted a one-under-par 69 after a round which included four birdies and three bogeys.
“It would have been nicer to be a couple better, but I’ll take that going into the weekend,” McIlroy said. “I’m very happy with my position and within striking distance of the leaders.”
English amateur Tom Lewis, who had led overnight after a record-breaking five-under-par round in the first round, meanwhile slipped down the board after a four-over-par 74 which left him at one under.
But with the cut coming at three-over, Lewis, 20, had done enough to guarantee his involvement over the weekend on a day when several high-profile British hopes fell by the wayside.
Donald, world No.2 Lee Westwood and European Ryder Cup stars Graeme McDowell and Ian Poulter all missed the cut.

Darren Clarke Won 2011 Britain Open

Darren Clarke is a professional golfer from Northern Ireland who currently plays on the European Tour and has previously played on the PGA Tour.
Darren Clarke has won 22 tournaments worldwide on a number of golf’s main tours including the European Tour, the PGA Tour, the Sunshine Tour and the Japan Golf Tour. Now, Darren Clarke celebrates his 2011 Open win, a triumph for 40-something golfers everywhere.
In this article, you may find the news about Darren Clarke. If you are looking to buy good golf clubs or read golf clubs review, I would like to recommend the good Callaway golf - Callaway Diablo EDGE Fairway Wood to you!
As Darren Clarke, with his middle-age spread, steel-grey thatch and lived-in face, lifted the Claret Jug aloft, it felt like a triumph for experience and for rich living, 40-something know how.
Only golf can do this in our sporting life. And the Open, in particular, reaches creaking parts that other majors cannot reach.
Someone asked him if it had felt different to his previous near-misses when, presumably, nobody could send him good-luck messages because texts did not exist back then. “I may look ancient but I’m not that old,” he laughed.
Good for the old boys. This was a day to make them feel particularly good about themselves. If Clarke could win here at 42 when the bookies were hanging him out as a 150-1 shot, then why not any of them, asked a beaming Mickelson, whose own unique fireworks display seemed to take years off him.
It was no coincidence that Clarke, alongside Johnson, Mickelson, partnering Anthony Kim, and Bjorn, looking fantastically grizzled next to young Fowler, won the individual last-day duels hands down with their young thrusters.
“The more I put myself in this situation the better, the more I learn,” the 27 year-old sighed afterwards. So, by the time he is 40, he will hopefully have learned how not to throw away Majors after this third last day implosion.
“I think the players, as they get old, can play this championship more effectively. Like Darren has, like Watson has and like me now! I was watching a lot of the younger guys fighting the wind more and not hitting the ball like Watson does with those low penetrating shots.”
That’s why when Clarke reflected on his “long, bumpy 20-year road” to glory here on the 18th green, everyone wanted to celebrate a life so richly lived. Hail the old boy and his black stuff.

Never Taking Anything for Granted

Golf game is one of the most popular sports around the world, and golf means never taking anything for granted! Do you know what’s mean?
Clarke became the third-oldest player to win his first major, trailing only 45-year-old Jerry Barber in the 1961 PGA Championship and Roberto De Vicenzo at 44 in the 1967 British Open.
There are others like Clarke who was on the downside of their prime years when they won a major. Two that come to mind are Tom Kite, who was 42 when he won the U.S. Open, and Mark O’Meara, who was 41 when he won the Masters and British Open.
In this article, I would like to talk something about golf game. If you want to read golf clubs reviews, you may read this article about TaylorMade R11 Driver for sale in my blog. There’s 38-year-old Lee Westwood.
As happy as he was for one of his best friends winning the Open, part of Westwood had to be asking, “When will it be my turn?”
Twice in the last four years, he missed out on a playoff in the majors by one shot. He had the 54-hole lead at the Masters last year and was beaten by better golf from Phil Mickelson. Lee Westwood kept getting better to the point that he reached No. 1 in the world.
But the same could have been said of Colin Montgomerie. He won a record eight money titles on the European Tour. He twice got into a playoff at the majors, losing both of them. Then came what appeared to be a Clarke-type moment at Winged Foot in 2006 when Montgomerie, at age 42, had a chance to win a U.S. Open. From the middle of the 18th fairway, he chunked a 7-iron and made double bogey. That shot might explain why Monty never won a major.
“The game is fickle,” Clarke said. “It hammers you, it hammers you, and then it gives you something. Of all people, I think Lee Westwood deserves something to be given to him. And I’m very sure that he will win majors, and not just a major.”
That’s what was said of Rory McIlroy before he won the U.S. Open last month by eight shots with a record score. Some players — with an Irish accent, it should be noted — began the countdown to Jack Nicklaus’ 18 majors. Then came the British Open, and a curious complaint from McIlroy that he doesn’t like playing in the wind.
“That will be hard on him,” Clarke said. “But if I was a gambling man … I would have a substantial bet on Lee Westwood winning the PGA in Atlanta. I hope he does.”
Hope isn’t enough. This article is from Golfsales365.com. Also, I would also recommend the TaylorMade R11 Driver (also known as the R11 Driver) to you.
